In 2021 we were approached by a lady, who's dream it is to retire to the plot of land that she bought with her husband in Yucca Valley. The budget is very tight though, but our hope is that if we can create a design that works for her it could be of real benefit to other low-income families.
Our plan is to keep on-site work to a minimum in a drive to keep costs down, so the main structure will be fabricated from structural, insulated panels (SIPs), with corrugated steel sheets as the external cladding.
The size of the overhangs on the roof have been determined by reviewing solar studies of the design, to find the optimum amount of shading.
